Samuel transferred to UC Davis from Sacramento City College after receiving associate degrees in biology and chemistry.  His current major is Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior and he plans to attend graduate school for neuroscience after he graduates from UC Davis.  During a previous REU experience in Guijun Wang's lab at Old Dominion University, Samuel synthesized a series of glucopyranoside derivatives and investigated their ability to function as gelators in various solvent systems.  When he is not in lab, Samuel enjoys reading nonfiction, exercising, and playing golf.
